Nancy Johansen-Wester is a lifelong artist based in Eagan, Minnesota, with over 30 years of experience in graphic design and calligraphy. About 20 years ago, she transitioned into fine art, refining her skills in oil, watercolor, acryla-gouache, and ink. Her work is guided by thoughtful observation and emotional resonance—often sparked by the glint of sunlight on water, the way light falls across a landscape, or a feeling that asks to be expressed through color.
Nancy has exhibited and sold her work in numerous venues throughout Dakota County, participated in the Minneapolis Institute of Art’s Foot in the Door exhibit, and was twice selected for the Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Competition. She is also a contributing artist in local fundraising events, including Art 4 Shelter for Simpson Housing Services and Createfor The Bridge for Youth.
A curious and evolving artist, Nancy enjoys exploring new materials, subjects, and techniques that spark joy. Her most recent deep dive involves creating hand-built pottery wall hangings—adding dimension and texture to her visual storytelling.
Whether working on canvas or clay, Nancy's art reflects a sense of wonder, experimentation, and emotional depth that invites viewers to connect with both beauty and meaning.
