Watt Munisotaram is a Khmer Buddhist temple in Hampton, MN. Established in 1982, it is North America’s largest Buddhist monastery at 40 acres.When Khmer refugees first settled in Minnesota, they lacked a temple, so Mrs. Kan Sally and elders enlisted the help of Venerable Ung Mean to establish one by sending a monk to help with the development of the monastery. This resulted in the creation of one of the most vibrant and important temples for the Khmer community, not only in the state of Minnesota but in America as a whole.
