As winter yields its grip, the streams that traverse the plowed fields of western Minnesota open up. The turquoise-colored ice flows float downstream in the high overhead warmth of the returning sun. Winter may return momentarily with a vengeance, but the cycle of the sun as it moves to the zenith melts the winter’s remains. Still, the grass waits until the ground warms. The landscape awakens to a new cycle.
