Jodi Reeb is a Minneapolis-based mixed-media artist who has been creating art for over 25 years. Her work has been exhibited nationally, receiving numerous awards, and is held in both private and corporate collections across the United States. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where she also taught printmaking in the Continuing Studies program for over nine years.
Jodi currently teaches encaustic painting—working with molten beeswax—at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts. She creates her paintings from her studio at the Traffic Zone Center for Visual Art in Minneapolis, often drawing inspiration from her time in the countryside. Her work explores the tension and harmony between natural and urban environments.
In her recent work, Jodi focuses on surface and materiality, creating luminous, layered compositions using acrylic paint combined with metallic pigments such as iron oxide, bronze, and copper. Through patina finishes and the interplay of light and shadow, she explores the dynamic qualities of texture, translucency, and form. Her process is driven by experimentation and a deep engagement with the natural properties of her materials, resulting in contemplative works that emphasize the beauty of surface and the depth within.
