We are universally drawn to water. The northern portion of Minnesota is filled with pristine lakes that pull visitors towards this unencumbered landscape. This island is one of many in Lake Kabetogama, within Voyageurs National Park. To reach this island, I traveled by boat to spend the day painting with other artist friends. As I sat on a warm rock worn by glacial action, the high clouds of this warm summer day floated by and occasional drifts of cool air pulled from the water welcomed me. These singular moments sustain the soul long after boating back to the mainland.
