Reinaldo Hingel is a Brazilian visual artist and professional photographer with over two decades of experience. His artistic practice focuses on painting and painting over photography, exploring the intersection of memory, identity, and visual narrative. He held his first solo exhibition in Rio de Janeiro in 2023 and participated in the group show at the Tiradentes Festival in 2020. In 2018, he curated the group exhibition Dimensões Evanescentes, also in Rio de Janeiro.
He holds a postgraduate degree and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Art History with a specialization in Higher Education Teaching Methodology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). As an educator, he has taught fashion photography in the postgraduate program in Fashion Production and Styling at Veiga de Almeida University, and photography in the undergraduate fashion program at Cândido Mendes University, the Brazilian Association of Photographic Art (ABAF), and at Furnas.
A professional photographer since 1996, Reinaldo has collaborated with major media outlets such as O Globo, Jornal do Brasil, and O Fluminense, with a focus on fashion and portrait photography. He worked for two years in Paris as a photography assistant and still photographer for film productions, and served as the official photographer for Prince Harry during his visit to Brazil.
Founder of O Retrato Studio in Rio de Janeiro, Reinaldo specializes in corporate and personal portraits—a genre that, at its core, reflects the fusion of the photographer’s vision and the subject’s desires. His portfolio includes clients such as Petrobras, BR Distribuidora, BG Group, HSBC, Bradesco, ACREFI, Losango, and Veirano Advogados. Reinaldo believes that photographing others is also a way of capturing oneself. His artistic projects aim to expand his worldview, uniting refined technique with personal reflection.
