Hassan Wasiu Sunday is a Nigerian visual artist born in Ibadan, Oyo State. He grew up in the culturally rich environment of Ibadan, where his artistic journey began. He received his early education in Eruwa and later attended Baptist Model High School, Sango, Eruwa. Hassan went on to earn a National Diploma with upper credit in Painting Technology from Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic and is currently pursuing his Higher National Diploma at The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
His formative experiences include industrial training at the esteemed Oluwole Omofemi Art Studio and the Centre for African Art and Design Gallery, owned by Dr. Ellis Oyekola. He has also completed two art residency programs—first with the Centre for African Art and Design in Ibadan, and then with the TR Residency Program in Lekki, Lagos.
Hassan’s work has been featured in exhibitions such as the Ibadan Art Fair, and his artistic foundation was laid under the mentorship of Mr. Godwin Segun Adesope at Heritage Creations in Eruwa.
Blending realism, expressionism, and abstract expression, Hassan's distinctive style incorporates African motifs and geometric patterns to reflect the spirit of his community. His work is deeply rooted in cultural heritage, social commentary, and storytelling. Through his art, he seeks to inspire strength, resilience, and beauty in the face of life’s challenges.
