"Every Flowerbed Makes Me Sleepy" is about the exhaustion we feel in our overwhelming life. There is too much to take in and process. Even the time we spend trying to experience and enjoy life is a thin veneer over our anxieties. Sometimes, enjoying a brief respite in a flowerbed is enough to make us tired.
Mat Ollig is a Minneapolis-based metamodernist oil painter whose work examines the intersection of digital culture and traditional painting. Classically trained in Florence, Italy, he reinterprets contemporary imagery through meticulous brushwork, creating distinctly human responses to an increasingly AI-driven visual landscape.
This artwork is currently on view as part of the Le Jardin des Fleurs exhibition at Hagen Hus Gallery through September 30, 2026. If purchased before the exhibition closes, the artwork will be reserved for you and shipped after September 30, 2026. We appreciate your patience and understanding, as the artwork will remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.
