The Mississippi River with its many channels, islands, and backwaters is a joy to explore. This scene was painted near Red Wing, the type of small town that exists up and down this majestic river. The light started to descend placing the trees in back light and changing the color of the distant bluff to violet. Yet with our long summer days, the light continues for hours. Even so, the light creates moments that quickly change.
