This tombolo (an island tied to the mainland) juts out from the shore into Lake Superior. The island defies the harsh climate while cultivating its own plant ecosystem. This painting was created on-site while standing within the deep pebble beach. Despite the warm sun and calm water, the wind picked up a touch of coolness. Standing on the edge of Lake Superior at this moment in time, one is reminded that the earth remains long after we pass, yet changes occur over time to alter the landscape.
