Man now manages some of the species of fish within the watersheds of the Midwest. Native trout are “planted” into cooler streams to replenish the stock. Fishermen and fisherwomen target these streams to fly fish, whether to catch and release or to keep for the frypan. The rhythm of the fly pole at the ten and two echoes the back and forth of the seasons that feed the river. As I painted this scene on location, the high clouds of a late spring day and the occasional fisherperson walking up the stream brought joy.
